The First Step Toward Clean Living
It’s 60% of what we’re made of. We need it to live.
We cook with it, wash our clothes, dishes, and bodies in it, and of course—we drink it. But here’s the truth: our tap water isn’t as safe as we’d like to believe.
Tap water isn’t just water. It’s like a surprise cocktail of chlorine, fluoride, and mystery extras nobody asked for. Sure, it looks clear, but that doesn’t mean it’s clean.
When I started my “get the toxins out” journey, one of the very first things I did was invest in a water filter—and stopped buying plastic water bottles altogether. We were going through cases of bottled water every week. Craziness!
I purchased the PUR water filter, which was under $23. (If you want to check it out on Amazon, here’s the link 👉https://amzn.to/3Jkdqq7 #ad). I also grabbed a set of large mason jars at Family Dollar—6 jars for under $15. Now, I fill them with filtered water and store them in the fridge. For around $40 total, I set myself up to save money. We were spending $20+ a week on bottled water. Win!
And let me say this—if you do nothing else on your non-toxic journey, I highly suggest making this your first step. Clean water is that important.
A quick note: I don’t recommend the typical filter pitchers. Why? Because you’re filtering into… another plastic pitcher. Counterproductive.
I like PUR because it reduces over 70 chemical and physical substances, including lead. The downside? It does not remove fluoride, and the housing is still plastic (though they make a chrome version for about $35 if you want something sturdier and no plastic).
If fluoride is a big concern for you, you’ll want to look at other options:
Clearly Filtered Pitcher or Under-Sink System – Removes fluoride, chlorine, PFAS, lead, and more.
Berkey with Fluoride Filters – Countertop system that takes out ~97% of fluoride when you add the special filters.
Reverse Osmosis (RO) Systems – Gold standard for removing fluoride, pharmaceuticals, heavy metals, and microplastics.
Clean water isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. Whether you start small with a PUR or invest in something like a Berkey or RO system, the important thing is to start. Your body will thank you. 💧
Let me know about the system you have or are thinking about.
Thanks for stopping in and let me know how your journey is going. I would love to hear about it!
